Nice
By Crom! It’s been a while, hasn’t it? Let’s consider why, and try to nail down what’s best in life…
Besides of course to crush your enemies
Four times a week I put on shorts and head over to Anytime Fitness, and I get on the Stair Climber in the corner.
And you know what? After 74 kilometres: IT GETS OLD! There have been more than a few sessions in the last couple of months that felt like a Chore rather than a Challenge. It was effort without effervescence, like the steps were getting in the way of me getting on with the rest of my day. I don’t like that feeling. Exercise was meant to feel like I was adding something to my life, and not something that gets in the way. So I had to do something to add that spark back in, and Crom help me: I started exercising MORE!
The Challenge wants me to do steps, to get to 100km, but my BRAIN wants more than that to stay motivated. So I added another gym-session a week where I go back to lifting weights.
And let me tell you: the first time I picked up a barbell again to move something other than my legs? JUBILATION! It felt so f%^&king good that I damn near burst out laughing mid lat pull. It was like the rest of my body had been jealously observing my legs, and was begging to be chosen. So I have now replanned my floors to happen over 3 visits a week, and for the 4th visit I get to do Deadlift, as a treat.
Astronaut
I am getting close to reaching the height at which the U.S. Armed Forces consider a person an astronaut. (80.47 km). But you know, I did it manually. Just saying.
Also, if we were on Mars I would probably be done already. AAAANNYYYWAAY: I’m packing in more and more floors each visit, just so I’ll be able to reach the finish line on or just after 1 DECEMBER 2025
I shall have to buy a new frock for the occasion.
